Nursing, Personal Care Attendant (PCA)

The Role of Stress in Abuse

1: A caregiver that is under a lot of stress is at a much greater risk of abusing the client.

2: Learning to handle stress appropriately is one of the most important aspects of healthcare work.

3: The client is dependent on you to meet their daily needs even if you are stressed, tired, or have problems at home.

4: They need you to have a positive attitude, be encouraging, and cheerful.

5: If you don't have your personal stress under control, you may speak or act inappropriately before you realize what you've done.
